Mario Nuño

Maria Nuno is a pediatric resident at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California. She graduated from Rosalind Franklin University in 2025. She would like to pursue a sports medicine fellowship after resdiency. She plays defensive center midfield, but can also play outside and center back.

Maria played at the college level at Lourdes University (NAIA) in Ohio as well as semi-professional outdoors for Dutch lions and professional indoor soccer for PAO in Chicago during med school.

Maria is married to her college sweetheart and together they have a sweet but crazy golden retriever named Messi who loves to travel with them. They also enjoy hiking in National Parks.

Maria joined the US Women’s Medical Soccer Team because she has been missing the opportunity to play more competitive soccer as well as having a team/family dynamic that soccer brings. It has been a great opportunity to meet like minded, amazing, and well accomplished women from around the nation and world.
